A favorite song...

This has been a favorite of mine for many years... Since I lived in Moscow, Russia. A BIG city of over 10 million people... It just seemed as if this song put into words what I saw as I walked about the city...

Lonely Voices Crying in the City

Words & Music by Billie Hanks, Jr. (c) 1967

1. Lonely voices crying in the city,

   Lonely voices sounding like a child.

   Lonely voices come from busy people;

   Too disturbed to stop a little while.

   Lonely voices fill my dreams;

   Lonely voices haunt my memory.

2. Lonely faces looking for the sunrise

   Just to find another busy day.

   Lonely faces all around the city;

   Men afraid but too ashamed to pray.

   Lonely faces do I see;

   Lonely faces haunt my memory.

3. Lonely eyes--I see them in the subway;

   Burdened by the worries of the day.

   Men at leisure, but they're so unhappy;

   Tired of foolish roles they try to play.

   Lonely people do I see;

   Lonely people haunt my memory.

4. Abundant life He came to truly give man;

   But so few His gift of grace receive.

   Lonely people live in every city;

   Men who face a dark and lonely grave.

   Lonely faces do I see;

   Lonely voices calling out to me.

PLEASE PRAY!!!

Please be praying- and keep praying- for my Sarah (Rose) Gollner's micro-preemie. Baby Eleonora was born last week at only 25 weeks along. She was 1 1/2 pounds and 12 1/2 inches long.

They just found out that she will probably be needing a heart surgery in the next couple of days... There are so many things to be praying for... Please pray!!!

Life Lesson from the life of Enoch

"And Enoch walked with God...
"And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him."
- Genesis 5:22&23-

"By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God."
- Hebrews 11:5-

(from my journal last night...)

Today in Genesis (Pentateuch) Scot talked about Enoch who walked with God. One of the things that he said that was:

*I must not ask 'can' I do this? (rule based), but I must ask
"How will this affect my relationship with God?"
(love based, fellowship/relationship based)

Wow! I really like this... I need to not focus on rules or 'cans' and 'cannots', but on 'shoulds' and 'should nots'. I need to learn to use my time more wisely here at school... This is one of the practical applications for this! "My" time! Is it really "mine"? No, its God's since I am God's. So, I need to learn to ask how He wants me to use 'my' time. Why? Not because of 'rule's, but because I love Him and I want my life to count for Him...

A favorite poem...

The Rose

It’s only a tiny rosebud

A flower of God’s design;

But I cannot unfold the petals

With these clumsy hands of mine.

The secret of unfolding flowers

Is not known to such as I…

The flower God opens so sweetly

In my hand would fade and die.

If I cannot unfold a rosebud

This flower of God’s design,

Then how can I think I have wisdom

To unfold this life of mine?

So I’ll trust in Him for His leading

Each moment of every day,

And I’ll look to Him for His guidance

Each step of the pilgrim way.

For the pathway that lies before me

My Heavenly Father knows-

I’ll trust Him to unfold the moments

Just as He unfolds the rose.
